“And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when that comest, anoint Hazael to be King over Syria: and Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room” (1 Kings 19:15-16) It was mandated by God that whoever he was to have speak prophetically on his behalf was to be anointed with oil. The anointing with oil spoke of consecration and divine endowment. When Elijah anointed Elisha, at that moment, God endowed him with supernatural ability to see and hear into the supernatural dimension and consecrated him to be a spokesperson for heaven. The Holy Spirit is a prophetic spirit. The anointing of the spirit upon a person allows that person to operate above the natural dimension. You too can position yourself to hear from heaven.
